About Civil Ceremonies
The Swiss Way
Why is the Swiss Way Different and Not Typical for International Clients?
In Switzerland, the legal civil documentation takes places in either a Town Hall or another government approved location, and typically the Swiss Official Ceremony Room holds only 10-15 people and simply has a large table in the center of the room for the signing of the legal documents. The rooms are nice, but there is no aisle for the bride to walk down, and the aspects that make your wedding truly special are not possible. Addiitionally, if you have more guests than the room can hold, the Swiss Way is to have the additional guests wait outside, which is not recommended as your guests have traveled abroad to witness your marriage.
Therefore, Swiss SE recommends using the Swiss Goverment only for the legal signatures which validate your marriage.
Your Proper English Ceremony, conducted by a friendly Swiss Officiator, can then take place either later the same day, or the next day after the official signatures.

Legal Civil Marriages are typically only possible Monday - Friday.
